Intermittent picture on Sony DCR-DVD105 camcorder

Symptom: when recording, the picture goes off sometimes, or shows lines, or white screen.

The reason causing this intermittent problem could be a defective CCD, main board, cold solder or loose connection (bad contacts). Checking if there existed a loose connection is always my first thing to do.

Take off the screws as shown on the Figure1&2.

Slide the NightShot switch to ON, then you will find a screw hiding there need to be taken off too.

Gently separate the unit.

Unplug the ribbon cable and clean it with a cotton swab and blow compressed air to the connectors, then connect the cable back. In my case, it worked!

Brilliant! My camera died tonight and this guide helped to fix it. Took 10 minutes to take apart and put back together.
