    Hi there!
I am in the proces of aquiring replacement parts for my broken Powershot G9 camera with lens damage. In my search I found “Grade B” optical unit for about $80. The seller claims that the Grade B means it will have a defect in a non-visible place after installation, but I am sceptical and afraid optical/lens defect.

Have you heard of Canon grading replacement parts like this? Do you know what is the difference between Grade A and Grade B lens assembly?

I have a Canon PowerShot A540. While I was using the camera shooting a picture, I dropped the camera. Now, the lens that’s extended out in shoot mode is completely unbudgingly stuck and is not retracting back into the camera. The power turns on, but the lens is still stuck in its extended out mode and is not moving at all -completely stuck! Do I need to open the camera and fix it from the inside? How do I fix this myself? If it’s something I can’t fix this myself, what is the average cost to get this fixed on this camera and the best place to get it fixed, or is this garbage material now?

My canon powershot s500 suddenly takes pictures that are striped and washed out. I have tried a different battery and compact flash with no results.
This camera is 5 years old.
    Is is worth repairing?
Is canon still the the premium digital camera it was, or should i be looking at another brand?

    Thank you

I have a Canon G9 that doesn’t work. The lens does NOT retract. it powers on, but since the lens won’t move, I can’t use it at all. Any help/advice?
