I have got a canon S5IS camera, one year old. Now the in built flash is not working. I went to a canon service center and they are telling I have to change the entire flash unit and it will cost about half of the price of the camera. It is working fine with an external flash [Vivitar 3000A]. The technical person told that the board is short circuited and has to be replaced. I have no idea how it happened. Is there any ways other than that?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello
My Canon SD750 camera’s flash doesnt work at all, when I opened the camera to inspect the colder solder on the inductor as posted in this website earlier i found out the whole component(of which the cold solder is supposed to be on) is missing. My question now is what is that component itself ? How can i find the equivalent replacement.Thank you very much in advance.
