How to fix a sticky lens barrier on Canon PowerShot A1000
I have written How to fix a sticky lens barrier on Canon A530 before, even fixing the same problem on the two models got some similar procedure, you still need to pay attention to some difference because of their different structure.
First, turn on the camera and remove the batteries, let the lens extend out. Use the same tool on How to fix a sticky lens barrier on Canon A530 to separate the ring.
Clockwise turn the barrier cover a little and remove it.
Take out the flaps and springs carefully, clean all those pieces totally.
There is a tiny tab on the flap.
Put the springs on the flaps carefully. Don’t let the springs jump off.
Put the batteries in and turn on then off the camera and remove the batteries, let the lens on retract position.
Hook the spring on the drive ring.
And put the post in the hole.
Here we got one flap on.
Put the another flap on. Now both flaps are in place.
Put on the flap cover; make sure four tabs of the cover into the slots.
Gently ani-clockwise twist the flap cover a little and lock it into place.
Now you can put the batteries in and test the camera. Do the flaps open and close smoothly?
If so, final step: let the lens extend again, put on the double-sided tape and put on the ring.
