How to replace LCD screen on Canon SD870IS

On How to change LCD screen for Panasonic DMC-TZ1 and How to replace LCD screen for Canon SD1000, I replaced a complete LCD units which a backlight is included in. This time I’m going to show you how to replace a LCD sheet.
A complete LCD unit costs over $80.00 usually. A LCD sheet only costs half. If you have a cracked LCD with backlight working, what you need to do is to change the LCD sheet only. Just a little more work can save your money.

This is a Canon SD870IS.
Remove the battery and 6 screws around the camera, then take off the front and back covers.

Remove 2 screws and take off the bracket.

Do you know what the size is of the screws holding the body together? A few have fallen out of my SD870.

After reassembly my backlight doesn’t work.

Any thoughts? Does the camera need to be reset somehow?

You probably didn’t get the connectors back in all the way. Try the fix again and make a special effort to get the connectors as far in as they can go. Otherwise you can get a white screen or something similar
